Hi, I’m Elizabeth! Wife of seven years to Justin, stay at home mom to Miryam, Luke, and Cecily. Ever since my first year of marriage, during which I learned how to cook, picked a favorite grocery store, and experienced pregnancy for the first time, I had been meaning to make an online space to share anecdotes and musings from my happy little home life. Previously my thoughts were bestowed only on my close friends and family, often via text message with “sorry for the novel!” or “I just felt the need to tell someone” added to the end. Now that I have two talking kids plus an opinionated toddler, I’m bursting with stories, and I need more than a text message amount of text to formulate them. I don’t know if anyone outside that small original circle will enjoy my stories or benefit from them at all, but if you’re here to check them out, Welcome. I hope you find something you can relate to here.
My Topics
I am not an expert in any of these fields, but I do have experience in all of them. And I have stories about them. And I have thoughts about them. And so I write about them. Here’s a closer look at the topics that have made it onto my website.
Marriage. Marriage is my Vocation, and my marriage with Justin is the foundation of our family. We had just celebrated our fifth anniversary when I launched this site! Someone asked me, “What makes it work?” The answer isn’t short. But I hope to answer that incidentally in some of my posts.
Kids. Pregnancy, Babies, Toddlers, Preschoolers, Kindergarteners. These are the stages of parenting that I have been through (or am currently going through) so far. “Mom” is my main title these days; my kids consume most of my time and thoughts! Hence, stories. I also hope to share a few parenting resources and strategies that have helped me with my kids.
Food. I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that I spend at least half of my waking, at-home hours in the kitchen. I prepare food for little mouths about five times a day. Even when that’s just getting a prepackaged snack out of the pantry…the pantry is still in the kitchen! And then Justin and I are self-proclaimed foodies and love to cook from scratch, and baking is one of my favorite hobbies.
Keeping House. I can’t keep myself from referencing the never-ending laundry and grocery lists every once in a while. That’s the first layer that comes to mind when I think “domesticity.” We also like to DIY home projects where we can. We’re no Chip and Joanna, but we like to spruce things up here and there.
Self-Care. Hobbies, literature, Netflix. Getting my yearly hair cut. Occasionally spending 20 minutes to make myself a colorful salad for lunch instead of eating what’s left of my kids’ sandwiches and bananas (there are never crackers left). Trading in facebook scroll time to design and write a blog instead.
Faith. My husband and I are Catholic (Christian!), and we’re raising our babies Catholic. My faith influences how I do things and how I see things. It’s part of who I am and how I’m cultivating my home and family culture, at the roots.
